Support System
I can't stress enough how important your circle is to your success. Sometimes, that circle is people you don't even realize are in your corner, cheering you on.This past weekend, I had the privilege of going to a concert with my best friend, Megan, and her parents. I have been best friends with Megan for over 15 years and I have had the honor of knowing her family for just as long. All I can say is, they are amazing. I am inspired by her parent's relationship - their love for one another, their children, their community. Between my best friend's parents and my own, I had excellent role models for the building blocks of relationships.

Prior to going to the concert, we, of course, had to discuss my dietary restrictions. Megan was incredibly accommodating, making sure to find gluten free options. She and her mom double checked ingredients to make sure the food was indeed, gluten free, and even got me a special dessert so I could enjoy a sweet treat while everyone else was eating brownies and cookies.
I felt so loved and cared for. My circle of support is beyond what I originally imagined.
I still feel like a nuisance when thinking about/deciding food, or grabbing a bite with friends. It's so complicated and almost painstaking. I hate the attention and discussion around what I can and can't eat.
My Saturday night experience though made me feel like my health and comfort was more important than the extra work it took to get there.
