It's been a real challenge, but I have managed to wade upstream to become Denise Tweed. *phew*
Name Change Hearing
The Name Change Hearing on August 3rd was incredibly underwhelming. The judge was nice enough but we were there about 1.5 hours waiting our turn for him to review my paperwork and sign off on the appeal. Once that was all said and done, I had to go to the County Clerk's office (just down the hall) and get some certified copies ($25.50 each!) so I can take/send them off for all the name change notifications I need to do.DMV - RealID
Trying to be proactive, I made my DMV appointment after the hearing date was set, in June. The soonest appointment was August 15th. (Yes, six weeks out.) I saw that the office was open that Saturday, August 18th, so instead of continuing to mess with my work schedule, I took the only Saturday appointment to get things over and done with. The DMV visit this time was easy peasy. I was in and out in about 35 minutes, temporary license in hand. I hope the new one comes soon, as I'm not digging my paper license right now.
Things left to do:
- Passport
- Title and Registration on my car
- Insurance - house and car
- I-9 at work to update my name in the ADP system (will update my insurance there also)
- Bank
- Credit cards
- Property title
- Utilities
- Various accounts
I'm sure I will run into more places things need to be changed as I go through everything. It's a lengthy process, but I feel like the hardest part is done. Out with Larson and in with Tweed.
On to the next steps!
